Episode 21: Marbury v Madison

This is a longer episode. In the beginning, we talk about the normal weekly homestead stuff, as well as my brush with heat exhaustion. The second half is a conversation about the landmark Supreme Court case, Marbury v Madison. It was just something that caught our attention this week. The episode picture this week is a photograph of Dolley Madison. She was James Madison’s wife and the 4th First Lady of the United States, and there are THREE legit photographs of her. That fascinates me to no end, that all of these people were just on the cusp of the photographic age. We were so close to having an actual photograph of people like Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. The first photograph was taken by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in the same year that Jefferson and Adams died (1826).
