Episode 59: No Excuse

One of the enduring motivations for us to live on a homestead and do all the things we do is the physical health and wellness that comes from producing good food and living an active lifestyle. With nearly 70% of the American population being overweight or obese, something needs to happen to correct course.

While a lot of focus is aimed at macro-scale solutions, it still falls on the shoulders of individuals to make changes in their individual lives. Unfortunately, the general feeling seems to be one of accepting the situation as it is and learning to live with the reality that we are profoundly unhealthy.

In this episode, we tried to summarize the most common arguments that come up when the topic of personal health and wellness, in the context of weight, diet and exercise, is discussed. Rather than allowing these excuses to shut down the conversation about how individuals can take control of their lives and transform their bodies into healthier versions of themselves, I wanted to address the points directly. This may seem like a blunt rebuttal to insurmountable barriers people face when trying to change their lives for the better, but tiptoeing around the objections has not yielded the results necessary for us to get healthy and live a full and fulfilling life.
